Knowledge of Microsoft Office: This includes Excel and Word and at times Access too. These are 3 main programs that administrative assistants use most often. They use them for developing charts, newsletters, letters, memos, databases and mush more. Others in the office mainly rely on admin assistants to know how to use these programs more effectively. Verbal Communications: Main part of an admin assistant is to speak with various people. He/she has to speak with people over the phone and in person, so it's vital that you know how to communicate your messages efficiently. Listening Skills: Most of the instructions that the admin assistants receive from the managers would be verbal, so you need to listen cautiously. Listening effectively doesn't come naturally, but it's a learned skill.

These are just a few skills that you need to develop to become a good administrative assistant and maintaining these skills is the key to your success.
