Personal Content and No Replication:

The nature of the admissions counselor cover letter should be personal and it should talk about your inclination towards this job and not seem like a duplicate of your resume. How To Write A Covering Letter For Job Application

How To Write A Covering Letter For Job Application

The first and most important rule to submitting your application or CV is that you should always, ALWAYS send it with a covering letter. You should use your cover letter to highlight your talents and skills that are specific to the job, outline how you relate to the companies values and aspirations, and should be used whether you're sending a CV or an application form. Where your CV or application provides information about the skills you have for the post, your covering letter should expand upon your motivation and adaptability. Your covering letter should:

* show the employer that you are interested in the company and post;

* highlight the important skills and experience in your CV that relates to the job;

* expand upon information in your CV that isn't easily shown;

* if necessary explain any personal anomalies in your application.

Cover letters are an essential part of any application, and if you are reaching for a position at a higher level or in a dramatically different sector, or submitting speculative applications in the hope that your CV will land on an employers doorstep just as they are considering employing a new member. For candidates in these positions it is ESSENTIAL that your cover letter is well-written!

Style

* Make sure you address your letter to a person by name. If this means that you have to call the company to ask for a name for the recruitment that's even better because you'll make the effort when a number of applications probably won't, so you have an advantage already. This will guarantee that your application gets to the right person, and provides you with a contact name for a follow-up call or email to make sure the application has been received.

* Consider your application from the employer's point of view. Your cover letter should tell them in a concise way what you can contribute to the organisation. Make the whole content specific to the job, it will be no good to just send a standard letter with the job titles and addresses changed.

* If you want your covering letter to be read from start to end - and if you're serious about the job, then certainly you do - then you should make sure the letter is no more than one page long and with short and clearly themed paragraphs.

* If the role and/or organisation is creative, you should reflect this in your writing style. If the organisation is very formal, you should opt for a more traditional, formal covering letter.

Content

Content tips:

* Introduce yourself, state the role you are applying for and where you saw the advert. If writing a speculative letter, identify the type of work you are looking for.

* Confirm why you are interested in this type of work and suggest what you think this is is likely to involve, making reference to your experience of those skills required.

* Explain why you would like to work for this employer. Indicate your enthusiasm by making reference to the companies success, portfolio, values or achievements.

* Remind the employer why your are suitable for the job by highlighting relevant skills and experience, not just rewriting your CV, but giving specific examples of a time when you achieved well. Aim to show that your main strengths reflect the requirements for the job.

* If there are anomolies in your background, use your cover letter to explain these, such as recent time gaps (travelling, studying etc) or ways in which you do not match criteria listed in the job advert.

* Ensure there are no errors and spelling mistakes and that you have written the addresses.

* Finish by respectfully requesting an interview or an opportunity for an informal discussion.

* The letter should be typed, but a nice touch in formal letters is to use a fountain pen to hand write 'Dear ...' (with the recruiter's name) and 'Yours sincerely' with your name below (and typed below to ensure they can read your name).

Disclosure of disability

It may be that you have a disability which will not affect your ability to do the job, but perhaps you have concerns that the employer may not view you objectively if you declare your disability. It is not a legal requirement to declare disabilitys in your application, so you can make your own decision on this, but remember that there is a good chance that disclosure could highlight your personal skills and qualities in overcoming any disability to the employer.

By disclosing your disability you will automatically be provided access to equal opportunities and training schemes in place under current legislation. There may also be implications for the employer in terms of health and safety such as a requirement for workplace adaptations, which the employer will need to know, although funding is available to help employers make necessary changes.

However, if you do not disclose a disability on an applicaiton form when you are specifically asked, or on a medical form, this could give rise to dismissal at a later date.

If you disclose a disability in your covering letter, remember to be positive and highlight your skills and experience, and the additional skills you have obtained to overcome your disabiltiy.

Yes, a resume is important. For that reason carefully choosing an online resume cover letter is also important. I used to think of my cover letter as an after thought. Not giving it the importance it requires, left me jobless for longer than I like to admit. It wasn't until I realized the powerful selling tool it is that I made a change and consequently saw results.

I used to send just a resume. Thinking it was enough. It had all my information after all. I worked on it and made sure it was good. While doing research on the internet I read something I had never seen before. It said "Forget your resume. What's your cover letter saying?" I had never seen that before. Truth be told, I wasn't quite sure what a cover letter was supposed to look like. The only reason it came to my attention was that it specifically said forget your resume. Otherwise I wouldn't have picked up on it. I instantly thought why would I forget about something I've put so much effort to improving? I had to look into what they were saying. That's when I realized the selling tool it is.

I immediately started to work on getting a cover letter for my resume. I looked at a couple of online resume cover letters, decided on one changed some information on it and out it went. For a couple of months I used it with little to no success. Needless to say my results were less than stellar with that generic online resume cover letter. I wasn't getting called in to interviews.

Out of frustration I started to acquire any and all the resources I could find to make my cover letter stand out. I figured I have a decent resume and an online resume cover letter wasn't going to do the job. The more research I did the more I realized how important a selling tool it was but I was having trouble writing one that I was happy with. I found it very useful to use the ideas given on a program I picked up that covered how to put together a professional cover letter. With the ease of use and correct language that was used on the program and specific to the field I was applying in I saw an improvement with call backs and even on the number of appointments I went on.

Doing this helped me take the generic feeling out of my cover letter. Giving up on that online resume cover letter was the best thing I did and my results speak for themselves. I was fortunate enough to get a job offer by a local company. Now my commute is no more than twenty minutes.

How To Write A Cover Letter For A Job Application

I looked into how to write a cover letter for a job application to try and stand out from other applicant to the same job. Yet I didn't really know how to go about it. Most times a letter is included with a resume. Many jobs that I was applying for at that time didn't ask for a resume. They simply asked me to fill out an application. Something I started doing in these situations was to include a cover letter, a simple one, with my application. Looking online I found many good resources but I didn't want to turn in a cover letter that looked generic or over used. My plan of action at that time was to get a job as soon as I could. I had a car payment and I didn't want to damage my credit or the credit of my cosigner on the note. Aka my dad, I would never hear the end of it if I did. I included a letter with every application I submitted and though many of the jobs I applied for weren't high lever positions. Most managers and human resources personnel acknowledged and appreciated the letter. I wasn't looking to impress anyone. I just really needed a job. This is what I started to put on my letter. I took initiative with my letter and thought it wasn't as elaborate as the resume cover letters that I read over with the software I purchased. I did include paint a picture to the reader where I was diligent with my work and my desire to grow in the company and move up in the company. I included any and all information on my letter that I felt would help me. For example, I had participated in a work study program recently and I made sure to put how well I was able to blend with my peers. I also made sure to point out my fluency in Spanish and the fact that I was well versed in computers. Most jobs now require some computer work and I wanted to make sure I was proficient in most programs. I did land a job soon after I started to include a cover letter with my job application. I did notice a difference in the number of call back I receive and I was even offered better positions than what I had initially applied for. I would say that anyone looking for a job, resume required or not, should always have a cover letter accompany their application.

Certified Medical Assistant Cover Letter

Certified Medical Assistant Cover Letter

All of us have, at some point or another in our life, visited a doctor. Whenever you enter a doctor's office, who's the first person to greet you? Whose warm smile and friendly demeanor puts you immediately at ease in an otherwise overwhelming environment?

Well, these people are a valuable part of a physician's office. They are called medical assistants and are responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in a healthcare facility.

Here's something that will provide you an insight into the importance of a medical assistant for a healthcare facility. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of medical assistants is projected to grow by 31% over the 2010-20 decade, at a much faster than average pace for all occupations.*

There's no question that these multi-skilled professionals are much in demand and will continue to be over the next decade. The demand is spurred by an increase in the number of private and group practices as well as other kinds of healthcare facilities. But what exactly is it that doctors and other healthcare practitioners depend on medical assistants for?

Medical assistants perform a range of routine administrative, clerical and clinical tasks, so direct healthcare providers have more time at their disposal to treat patients. But before we look further into their specific duties and responsibilities, it's important to know how they earn the title of Certified Medical Assistant.

Medical Assistant Training

Although there are no formal educational requirements for this profession, it is probably best to attend a medical assistant training program, especially if you want to get certified.

One to two-year programs that result in a diploma, certificate or an Associate's degree are available at career schools and community colleges. Some schools also offer flexible, online medical assistant courses. The medical administrative assistant tuition for such programs is quite affordable.

Courses in medical terminology, medical office procedures, basic anatomy, healthcare reimbursement system, etc. are typically included in training programs for medical assistants.

Completing postsecondary medical assistant training qualifies graduates to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) examination conducted by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Those who pass the rigorous examination are awarded the CMA certification, which validates their deep and thorough understanding of the healthcare delivery process.

Duties of a CMA

Once you become a Certified Medical Assistant, you are qualified to perform a wide range of activities in ambulatory settings such as doctor offices, clinics, and group practices. Your duties and responsibilities may include:

1. Greeting and registering patients.

2. Recording their medical history.

3. Taking their vital signs like blood pressure.

4. Administering injections and/or drugs.

5. Collecting and preparing samples for testing.

6. Performing basic first-aid on patients.

7. Getting patients ready for examination.

8. Assisting doctors during a procedure.

9. Verifying patients' health insurance coverage.

10. Helping them fill out different types of forms.

11. Processing bills and collecting payments.

12. Maintaining patient records and files.

13. Responding to patient queries on phone.

14. Managing inventory and maintaining equipment.

15. Scheduling and managing appointments.

These are just a few of the tasks Certified Medical Assistants are responsible for. Clearly, they have more than their plates full so far as work is concerned. Some even work nights and weekends if the facility they are associated with operates 24/7. On the other hand, many medical assistants provide their services virtually.

And what can you take home at the end of it all? A more than decent compensation and the satisfaction of having done your bit in helping people in need!

Competition (too few jobs and too many graduates)

Here is the scenario... You have graduated college with a good looking degree; you feel on top of the world and ready to pick and choose your dream job. The reality however is that your one of a many in the same boat. While you feel as though you would be best suited for a particular role there can be hundreds of other people who feel the same way as you. I often tell the story about my days as a recruitment consultant where I used to recruit for graduate positions. I would post a graduate position on the job boards and by lunch time I would have 200 applicants in my inbox. So what can you do to differentiate yourself from the rest of the crowd? You need to ensure that your resume is in the top 5-10% of all resumes. A single mistake in your resume can be the difference between your resume ending up in the interview stack or in the deleted folder

Downturn in the economy:

We are all sick and tired of hearing about the global financial situation, sluggish economic growth and rising unemployment. Unfortunately this is the situation which new graduates find themselves facing when looking for a job in 2010. My best advice is to network, stay patient and increase the effort into the job search. You are going to have setbacks and days when you feel like the whole world is against you. The real challenge will be ones of Continuing perseverance and confidence

Lack of Real world experience:

My advice to all graduates (and those preparing to graduate) is to seek work experience. I personally hated this advice while I was at university but looking back now my work experience helped me plan out my career and gain vital experience in competitive industries. When the time came to put forward my resume, my previous work experience set me apart from many of my competitors.

Too high expectations:

Many graduates (myself included) complete university and expect to hand pick the job which they want. Furthermore in 2010, graduates have an expectation that they know what is best and should actually be the boss rather than working for the boss. So many times I have had graduates apply for job positions which are so unrealistic and then get despondent because they are not getting interview requests. It's important for graduates to realize that they need to gain the experience before they can call themselves the boss.

Debate between further higher education and job seeking

Do you continue to study or start straight away with the job seeking? Many graduates don't have a choice in this matter but for those who do continuing to study can lead to greater results long term (financial and job position) and also further help distinguish yourself apart form other graduates. On the other hand is it better to start working and get your foot in the door? There's no better education then real life experience of learning on the job
