Cover Letter For Job Fair

Cover Letter For Job Fair

Applying for jobs online or handing out your CV may not always be enough to ensure your job search is successful. Attending recruitment events and job fairs is the perfect way to boost your job search. We all know how hard it is to make ourselves look good to the employer on a bit of paper, so use these events as the chance to sell yourself face to face.

Whether it is an industry specific event or more generic, these careers fairs can be key in ensuring you find the perfect job. As part of your job hunt, attend a few events in or around your area and spend your time networking with important contacts within your industry. Premier Inn may only be recruiting for kitchen staff currently, but building relationships with relevant industry professionals will ensure that if they are ever recruiting for a new hotel manager, you could be the first person they contact for an interview.

Organisations who set up these events may even list a few companies or recruitment agencies who will be attending on their website beforehand, so you will have the opportunity to research background history of the companies that interest you, to ensure you understand their services beforehand.

Although these events can be daunting, try to see it as a positive experience. Instead of trawling round the internet hopelessly searching for any job, it will give you the chance to be proactive in your job hunt. Always dress smartly, as if you were going for an interview. Be confident - this is key when meeting new people; you need to show you are keen and passionate for the role, not shy and incapable.

With large job fairs, employers will meet hundreds of people over the space of a few hours, so make sure you stand out! Take copies of your up to date CV and business card (if you have one) to hand out to people should they wish to contact you after. If there is no mention of a 'next step' after the day, call or email the person you spoke to 2 days after to express what a pleasure it was meeting them and how interested you are in their current role; this can be treated like a cover letter of sort.

Most recruitment fairs also offer free 'drop in services' to give you one to one advice on how to improve your CV or specific advice tailored to your chosen industry, all from experts within the recruitment field. Take the time to get a fresh perspective on your CV, as to how you could re-phrase specific sentences or expand on previous experiences to entice prospective employers.

Try to approach your job hunt from all manners, attend recruitment events, speak to people you already know and use the internet to your advantage by signing up to online job boards.
